Privacy Policy

Your operating system should work for you, not watch you. ZelixOS is built with privacy as a foundational principle.

Last updated: October 27, 2026

This policy describes the privacy approach of the ZelixOS operating system, its included utilities, and this policy webpage. It does not cover services operated by others.

1. Scope and privacy principles

ZelixOS is designed to operate without built-in advertising profiles or user-analytics telemetry. The statements below describe the intended behavior of the operating system and project-maintained tools. They are not a guarantee about every package, service, network, or device that you choose to use.

2. Telemetry and diagnostics

ZelixOS project-maintained components are not designed to collect or send personal usage analytics, hardware identifiers, or diagnostic reports to ZelixOS. System logs and application data may still be created locally by Linux, the desktop environment, or software you install. These remain on your device unless you choose to share them or configure a service to transmit them.

3. Network and package requests

System updates and software installations contact the repositories and mirrors configured on your device to retrieve package files and metadata. These connections necessarily expose network information such as your IP address to the relevant server and may be logged by that server or your network provider under their own policies. ZelixOS does not control third-party mirror logging or retention.

4. Included ZelixOS tools

Tools such as Zelix Installer, Zelix Updater, Zelix Hello, and Zelix CLI are intended to perform their functions on your device. When a tool downloads packages or other content, the network request goes to the configured source. Review the source code and report concerns through the ZelixOS GitHub organization.

5. Local data and your choices

Configuration, files, account details, and logs created during your use of the system are generally stored locally under your control. You decide what to install, what services to enable, and whether to publish or send diagnostic information. Back up or remove local data using the tools appropriate to your system.

6. Third-party software and services

Applications, repositories, mirrors, websites, and online services that you choose to use are operated independently and may collect information under their own privacy policies. This includes browsers, cloud services, app stores, and community platforms. Check their terms and settings before sharing personal information.

7. This website and cookies

This privacy-policy page does not include analytics or advertising scripts, and it does not set cookies for tracking. The web host, CDN, or other infrastructure serving this page may process basic connection data (for example, IP address, request time, and requested path) for delivery, security, or abuse prevention. Their handling is governed by their own policies; ZelixOS cannot promise their logging or retention practices.

Your EN/TR language choice is stored locally in your browser and is not sent to ZelixOS.

8. Children and sensitive information

ZelixOS does not intentionally collect personal information from children through operating-system telemetry. Avoid posting passwords, private keys, personal identifiers, or unredacted logs in public issue trackers or community forums.

9. Security, retention, and requests

Keeping your device and installed software updated, using trusted sources, and protecting your accounts helps reduce privacy and security risks. ZelixOS does not maintain a central user-telemetry database from which to retrieve or delete a user profile. Data held by third-party hosts or services is subject to their processes and policies.

10. Policy changes and contact

This policy may be revised as ZelixOS and its website evolve. The revision date at the top indicates the latest published update. For questions about project-maintained software, use the ZelixOS GitHub organization; do not include sensitive personal information in public reports.
